Believe it or not, it’s that time of year again. The annual wine grape harvest is set to begin later this week.
Mumm Napa, the Rutherford-based sparkling wine producer that is typically one of the valley’s first to start the annual rite of passage, will kick off Harvest 2013 on August 1st.
A recent Associated Press article noted the earlier than “normal” expected start to harvest this year. Trefethen Vineyards’ COO Jon Ruel was quoted as saying:
“We’re a full month ahead of 2009, ’10 and ’11. There’s no such thing as a normal year, and this isn’t a normal year.”
