Napa Valley restaurants recognized, others reprimanded, Yao Ming releases Napa Valley Cabernet

We take off a few days for the Thanksgiving holiday and wind up missing out on a ton of Napa Valley news. Here’s a quick rundown on some of the recent items making headlines.

Rotisserie & Wine, Mammarella’s Fail Health Inspections
According to a report in the Napa Valley Register, two prominent local restaurants (owned by two prominent people) recently failed health inspections. Tyler Florence’s Rotisserie & Wine, which operates along the Riverfront in downtown Napa was one, the other was Mammarella’s, which is owned by Francis Ford Coppola. Among the violations were holding foods in the “temperature danger zone” and operating without required permits.

Former NBA Star Yao Ming Releases Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Yao Ming, former basketball star, has established Yao Family Wines and announced the release of a 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Ming is seeking to tap into the burgeoning Chinese wine market and will reportedly begin distributing the new release in China immediately before coming to the United States in 2012.

Bon Appetite Names 7 Best Napa Valley Restaurants
The folks at Bon Appetite have come up with a list of the 7 ‘best’ restaurants in the Napa Valley. Among those mentioned are our personal favorites (and frequently visited) Gott’s Roadside, Morimoto and Kitchen Door.
