A little over a week ago we made our way to the Napa Valley Opera House for the invite-only 3rd Annual Mutineer Magazine Red Carpet Party and King’s Ginger Cocktail Competition.
We were excited to check out the competition, which featured top local bartenders from Angèle, Bottega, Bouchon, Farmstead, Morimoto, Press, Redd and Solbar.
We sampled a few of their creations and tasted the poached scallop with instant sesame tofu noodles with King’s Ginger froth, as well as a pork belly yakitori with Sangue Morlacco and avocado.
Our big takeaway?
Mutineer Magazine knows how to throw a party and we’ve got an emerging drink culture, beyond wine, here in the Napa Valley.
The top three in the competition were Michael Jack Pazdon from Solbar, Jason Withrow from Redd and Matt Jerome from Angèle. Pazdon was eventually crowned the winner–in the video below he creates his “The King’s Waes Hail” while telling the story behind it.
