Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on November 10, 2011

Busy. That’s the best way to describe the Napa Valley right now. If you’re in town, here are a few can’t miss events taking place over the next few days.

Thursday, November 10th – Sunday, November 13th

  • The inaugural Napa Valley Film Festival is taking place across the valley. Last night there was a screening of J. Edgar (directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio) and tonight The Descendants (directed by Alexander Payne and starring George Clooney) will screen in downtown Napa. All told there will be some 50 films including narrative features, foreign film and documentaries screened and there will be multiple discussion panels, Q&A’s with filmmakers, food and wine tastings, parties and more. Fees vary, visit the official website (linked above) for more information

Saturday, November 12th

  • From 1pm – 5pm Girard Winery in Yountville will host a ‘Sip and Soup’ event that will include three soup shooters paired with Girard wines. There will also be live music by Richard Boleman. Cost is $20 per person (free for wine club members) and you can ring 707-944-9026 x1 for details
  • From 6:30pm – 8:30pm Peju in Rutherford will host a holiday open house that will include Peju wines paired with ‘holiday bites.’ The event is free–call 800-446-7358 for more information

Cheers!
