As Summer winds down and harvest get set to kick-in there are many things to look forward to. Cooler days, gorgeous fall colors emerging across the valley, unreal scents wafting through the air. The list goes on and on.

For us, the end of Summer also marks an annual visit to Spottswoode Estate in St. Helena for the ever beautiful and stylish Late Summer Garden Party. It’s a chance to relax, reflect and of course, taste top flight Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon while enjoying delicious eats.

This year’s party was held in late August. Our favorite wines of the day (this was a tough choice as they were all delicious) were the 1998 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2010 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc. Both showed the style and elegance we’ve come to expect from this producer. Of course we took a few bottles home with us to enjoy as the weather turns cold and we dream of Summers past.

Check out the photos below to get a better sense for what the party was like. Click on any image below to see the full-size version, or click “View with PicLens” to watch a slide show with captions.
