Back in June we told you about some activity in Rutherford at the former home of La Toque. Back then, we speculated that a new Italian restaurant, headed by Alessandro Sbrendola, was in the works and noted that it might even give Michael Chiarello’s Bottega a run for its money.
Fast-forward to today and it looks like we were more right than we ever could have known.
Report: The former site of La Toque in Rutherford will become Alex Italian Restaurant
According to a report by Inside Scoop, Rutherford’s newest restaurant will be called Alex Italian Restaurant and will focus on “…the Ligurian region, but will pull from all over Italy.”
Inside Scoop also reports that Nick Ritchie has been hired as chef of the new venture. Ritchie has been chef de cuisine at Chiarello’s Bottega since it opened back in 2008.
