Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

Father’s Day weekend is upon us. For those of you looking to celebrate dad wine country style, here are a few suggestions.

Saturday, June 18th

  • From 10am – 4pm there will be an open house at Harms Vineyards and Lavender Fields. This free event will feature Biodynamic tours of the ranch, guest speakers and demonstrations of sustainable farming topics, as well as culinary samples of lavender. Location is 3185 Dry Creek Road (between Linda Vista & Orchard Ave) in Napa and you can call 707-257-2602 for more information
  • From 1pm – 4pm Freemark Abbey Winery in St. Helena will host a ‘Backyard Lawn Day.’ For $20 per person ($10 per wine club member) you’ll be able to break out your croquet mallets, bocce balls, and bean bags while enjoying various wines and ‘nibbles.’ Call 800-963-9698 for details

Sunday, June 19th

  • Hall Winery in St. Helena will host a Father’s Day BBQ as it releases the 2008 HALL Jack’s Masterpiece Cabernet Sauvignon. For $20 per person ($15 per wine club member) you’ll be able to enjoy BBQ, live music and a special Father’s Day tasting menu. Call 707-967-2626 for more information
  • From 11:30am – 2:30pm Peju Winery in Rutherford will host a ‘Dads & Dogs’ event that will allow you to spend the afternoon in the Peju garden while enjoying your favorite Peju wines along with tasty classics from the grill. Call 707-963-3600 for pricing and availability
