The holiday shopping crunch is in full effect and if you’re like us, you’re just now getting around to sorting out what you’re going to get for those on your list.
We’ve already shared a few of our suggestions for the foodie in your life and now we’ve got a few thoughts for those of you with a wine lover on your list…
Here are four suggestions in no particular order.
- If you’re in the market for a white wine you can’t go wrong with the 2009 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley. Year in and year out Spottswoode produces some of our favorite Sauvignon Blancs in the valley. The ’09 was one of our Summer favorites and it retails for just $36 per 750ml bottle
- In terms of reds, check out the 2008 Vineyard 29 CRU Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a classic Napa Valley Cabernet that checks in at the lower end of Vineyard 29′s lineup while still going through the same winemaking process (hand sorting, processing in a gravity flow winery) as the more expensive offerings. Find it online in the $50 per 750ml bottle range
- If you’re looking to mix it up a bit, Round Pond Estate’s “Mini” Four Bottle Gift Set is a fun option. You’ll get a total of four 50ml bottles of Round Pond’s estate olive oil and Rutherford red wine vinegar. The set includes one Italian Varietal Olive Oil, one Blood Orange Olive Oil, one Cabernet & Merlot Red Wine vinegar and one Sangiovese, Nebbiolo & Petit Verdot Red Wine Vinegar. The best part? It costs just $35 and can be purchased online
- For the serious collector, Smith-Madrone Winery has put together a killer 3-vintage Cabernet vertical collection featuring its 2002, 2003, 2004 vintages. The Spring Mountain producer sources its fruit from its own estate vineyards located nearly 2,000 feet above the valley floor. The three vintage vertical collection will allow for interesting comparisons between growing seasons and will run you $150. Find it online.
Happy holiday shopping!
