Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on December 2, 2010

Our weekly rundown of the events taking place this weekend in the Napa Valley is here and it’s a doozy! We’ve got something for everyone, including wine tasting opportunities, tractor parades and pictures with Santa. Enjoy…

Friday, December 3rd

Saturday, December 4th

  • From 11am – 4pm one of our favorite wineries, St. Helena’s St. Clement, will host its annual Holiday Open House. For $20 per person ($15 per wine club member), you’ll be treated to Carolers, cheese and wine pairings, and holiday desserts. Call 707-265-5000 for details
  • From 2pm – 6pm Ehlers Estate in St. Helena will host a ‘Sip n’ Shop’ event that will see winemaker Kevin Morrisey offer samples of 2009 and 2010 ’1886′ Cabernet Sauvignon from barrel (Y-U-M!). The event is free and there will also be hors d’oeurves prepared by winery chef Richard Haake. Jewelry by Stella & Dot and a local chocolatier will also be represented. Call 707-963-5972 for more information
  • At 6pm the annual Napa Valley Lighted Tractor Parade will take place in downtown Calistoga. The parade, which is free to attend, is designed to be a “salute to our agricultural heritage” and features a wide range of small to gigantic equipment lighted and decorated for the holiday season (it truly is a sight to be seen!). Call 707-942-6333 for details

Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th

  • From 11am – 4pm both days, the Rutherford Passport Weekend will take place in, you guessed it, the Rutherford Appellation. For $65 per person for both days ($50 per person for Sunday only), you’ll be able to visit various Rutherford wineries to enjoy barrel tastings, wine and food pairings, sales of future wines and special discounts. Among the participating wineries are Alpha Omega, Honig Vineyard, Piña Napa Valley and several others. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to a Napa Valley charity and you can call 707-332-5585 for more details
  • From those with little ones, you’ll want to stop by Yountville’s V Marketplace between 12pm – 4pm this weekend to have your little guy/gal get a picture with Santa. There’s no charge for the photo and you can call 707-944-2451 for additional information
