Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on November 4, 2010

The first weekend in November is nearly here and there are quite a few events for those of you looking to do some wine and food pairings.

From our perspective, you can’t go wrong with any of the following…

Saturday, November 6th

  • From 2pm- 5pm at the Vintners Collective in downtown Napa, Longfellow Wines and Parallel Wines will team up for their annual fall release event. The new releases include the 2008 Pinot Noir and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, which along with some treats from the Longfellow library will be specially paired with the proverbial ‘small bites’ from the BBQ. There will also be live music and cost is $25 per person (no RSVP or registration is required). For more information, call 510-579-4177
  • From 3pm – 7pm up on Diamond Mountain in Calistoga the team at von Strasser Winery will celebrate the release of its 2008 Diamond Mountain Zinfandel by hosting a pizza and paella palooza. The 2008 Diamond Mountain Zinfandel, which saw only 146 cases produced, will be the drink of choice to go along with artisan pizza provided by Papa Vetrano and paella served up by Pane Vino. Cost is $20 per person (free to members) and you can call 707-942-0930 for details

Sunday, November 7th

  • From 1pm – 4:30pm Trefethen Family Vineyards will host the first in a series of special interactive wine and sushi tastings (yum!) in November. Chef Ed Metcalfe will create a menu that will include small plates, sashimi, nigiri, the signature Trefethen Roll and more, which will be paired with various Trefethen Family Vineyards wines (think Dry Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier). Call 866-895-7696 for pricing and additional details
