Just in time for Harvest 2010, Napa’s Signorello Estate has made a significant addition to its winemaking team.
Signorello, the family run winery perched atop the hillside on Silverado Trail, has added veteran winemaker Luc Morlet to its winemaking team in the role of consulting winemaker. Starting this month, Morlet will work alongside the winery’s long-time winemaker Pierre Birebent and will be involved in every step of the process during the 2010 harvest season.
In a press release announcing the move, Morlet said:
“I believe in very gentle handling of the fruit, use of natural flora (yeast and bacteria), no addition of anything, no use of any artifice, gentle tannin extraction, no fining and no filtration. For me, as a winemaker working with many vineyards in different parts of Napa Valley since 1993 (17 harvests!), becoming a part of Signorello Estate is a healthy and exciting challenge.”
Raised in France, Morlet is a fifth-generation winegrower and winemaker.
He has worked with various producers in Burgundy, Bordeaux and in Napa Valley with Newton Vineyards, Peter Michael Winery and Staglin Family Vineyards.
