Late August in the Napa Valley [PHOTOS]

by TrevR on August 23, 2010

Our weekend adventures took us from one end of the valley to the other–from Carneros all the way to just north of Calistoga. We noted that while behind the “normal” schedule, veraison is in full effect (if not complete) in most areas and signs that harvest is just around the corner abound.

In fact, we’ve received a press release from Mumm Napa, the sparkling wine producer that is typically one of the first to begin harvest each year, indicating they plan to kick-off the 2010 harvest early in the morning on August 24th.

Below is a glimpse into what the Napa Valley looks like at present.

It is absolutely beautiful! My happy place would be in the middle of a vineyard with grapes ready to pick, a bottle of some kick ass wine and some really good cheese on a sunny day just soakin it in! One day I will get to Napa!

Great pics! Love this time of year – nothing like harvest season in Napa Valley. We recently took the “Bottle Shock” Tour at Chateau Montelena – FUN, esp if you’ve seen the movie! Took some pics of the property – Jade Lake is beautiful and serene. It’s worth a visit just to see it – check out our pictures and review of the tour :)
