The folks at HALL Napa Valley have a pretty cool sounding (and quite tasty) event coming up on May 16th at the winery in St. Helena.

The First Annual HALL Cabernet Cookoff, which is an event to benefit various Napa Valley non-profits, will feature eight professional Chef team and nine amateur cook teams competing for your vote on their creations.

In an event similar to a Top Chef challenge, the teams will be asked to create a culinary dish made primarily of organic and sustainable ingredients for over 400 guests. To add an extra twist, the dish must pair perfectly with the 2005 HALL Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Attendees will have the very difficult tasked of sampling each dish and determining the HALL Cabernet Cookoff champion. There will also be music, cooking demonstrations from culinary icons and HALL Wine tastings.

Among the professional Chef teams are Calistoga Ranch, Fume Bistro and Bounty Hunter and among the amateur cook teams are “The Browns Valley Cooks”, “Purple Burgers” and “It’s a Family Affair”.
