Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

Hopefully your taxes are filed and that big refund is on its way.

To celebrate, we’ve got several noteworthy events taking place in the Napa Valley this weekend. Check ‘em out!

Saturday, April 17th

  • From 12pm – 4pm, Turnbull Wine Cellars will host a Grand Opening event for its new exhibit “The Early Years of Photography: 1860′s-1930′s”. You’ll enjoy over 80 photographs from the first 70 years of fine art photography and the winery will also feature a vertical of its flagship wine, the Black Label. For $25 per person (free for wine club members) you’ll be able to compare the ’05, ’06, ’07 and the ’08 Black Label from the barrel, paired with light hors d’oeuvres.   • From 12pm – 5pm Girard Winery will host another ‘Spring Fling’ tasting at its Yountville tasting room. The winery will be offering flights of four wines paired with Spring inspired cuisine. Cost is $25 per flight (free for wine club members) and you can ring 707-968-9297 x15 for more information

Saturday, April 17th and Sunday, April 18th

  • From 10am – 4pm both days the annual April in Carneros event will take place in, you guessed it, Carneros. Nearly 30 wineries in Carneros, including Ceja Vineyards, Folio Winemakers’ Studio and more, will feature food and wine pairings, live music, art and craft shows, special tastings (i.e. barrel, reserve, library) and more. Cost is $35 per person in advance, $40 day of and the ticket price includes $5 “Carneros Cash” that can be applied to any purchase at a participating winery. Call 800-909-4352 for more information
