Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on June 4, 2009

In case you didn’t know it already, this weekend is Auction Napa Valley. That means, if you’re planning to be in town, be prepared for crowds (and plenty of traffic) everywhere you go.

If you’re not lucky enough to be going to any of the multiple Auction-related events, or the Auction itself, here are a couple things that just may keep you entertained.

Friday, June 5th

  • From 5pm – 8pm the folks at Back Room Wines in downtown Napa will host a Cabernet Franc tasting that sounds like a lot of fun. For $15 per tasting, you’ll be able to enjoy an international selection of Cabernet Franc, including samples from California, Loire Valley, Bordeaux and elsewhere. Each of the wines poured will on sale at a 10% discount during the tasting. No reservations are required and you can call 707-226-1378 for more information

Sunday, June 7th

  • The team at Viader Vineyards and Winery in Deer Park will host a 20-year vertical tasting featuring Viader wines from 1989 to barrel samples of the most recent 2008 vintage. The free event will also include tasty bites prepared by chef Mariela Viader and in-depth winery and facility tours hosted by Delia, Alan and Janet Viader. The event runs from 12pm – 4pm–call 707-963-3816 to RSVP
