Among other things, we tasted a boat-load of wine that day. In particular, we were treated to a sit-down tasting of St. Supéry’s winery exclusive wines, which are those that (you guessed it) you can only get through the winery itself (in-person on on the web).
Rather than drone on with long-winded descriptions of each wine we tried, we’ve decided to simply publish the very short notes we jotted down as we tasted. When you next visit St. Supéry you’ll do quite well to get your hands on any/all of the wines listed below, they are simply delicious.
2007 St. Supéry Estate Semillon Napa Valley…orange and citrus notes, long finish with an abundance of pears, very refreshing wine. A close runner-up to our favorite wine of this lot. $24 per 750ml bottle. 100% Semillon. 13.5% alcohol by volume
2006 St. Supéry Malbec Napa Valley…probably our favorite of this lot…hints of leather on the nose and palate, lively, long, smoky finish. $40 per 750ml bottle. 75% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.3% alcohol by volume
2006 St. Supéry Cabernet Franc Napa Valley…strong blueberry notes on the nose, dry and tannic. $50 per 750ml bottle. 75% Cabernet Franc, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot. 13.7% alcohol by volume
2006 St. Supéry Rutherford Merlot…medium-bodied, a bright wine, hints of cinnamon, fruit forward. $50 per 750ml bottle. 93% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. 13.9% alcohol by volume
2006 St. Supéry Petit Verdot Napa Valley…a somewhat tannic, big, strong wine, notes of toasty oak. $50 per 750ml bottle. 89% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.2% alcohol by volume
2005 St. Supéry Limited Edition Estate Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon…velvety, lush, black pepper hints and notes of tar, classic Rutherford Cabernet. $80 per 750ml bottle. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. 14.6% alcohol by volume
