On Saturday, February 7, 2009 Oakville’s Silver Oak Cellars will host an event that will serve two purposes. First, the winery will host its annual Release Day, which this time around will feature the 2004 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Here are the tasting notes:

The 2004 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a complex and elegant wine that balances the expression of fruity and savory elements with finesse. The wine has a dark ruby color with a purple edge and displays aromas of black plum, soy sauce, chocolate, and rose petals. It has a soft, velvety attack and a fruity, floral and spicy mid-palate. The finish is long and smooth with well integrated tannins. Properly cellared, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2024.

The wine is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and will cost $100 per 750ml bottle.

The event, which costs $30 per person to attend, will run from 9:00am – 3:30pm at the Oakville estate and will feature wine tasting (of course), food and live music. The 2009 Release Day will also serve as the grand opening for the new Oakville winery that Silver Oak has been working on for quite some time.
