Yet another famous chef, Food Network personality and author is building a presence here in the Napa Valley. This morning, Tyler Florence was in town to give a cooking demonstration and promote his two new cookbooks–Stirring the Pot and Dinner at My Place.
Under grey, gloomy skies at COPIA’s outdoor Viking cooking area, Florence informed a packed audience that he’s the new Dean of Culinary Education at COPIA. He also noted that he’s the new Executive Chef at Julia’s Kitchen, the restaurant named after COPIA founder Julia Child, where he will host an inaugural dinner tomorrow night.
Having spent time in New York City, Florence said there was only one other area in the country–the Bay Area–that he’d consider living given the culinary prowess. He’s now based in Mill Valley and said he’s really taking to the Northern California lifestyle. So much so, in fact, that he’s also apparently working on his own wine label.
Stay tuned for more photos from the cooking demo and a couple of Florence’s recipes…
