Many of the grapes on the valley floor are off the vines and we’re currently enjoying the amazing smell of fermenting fruit each time we open a window or walk outside. Yep, the calendar might not quite agree, but for us, this is confirmation that fall is upon us.

Here are a couple events that are worth checking out if you’ll be in/around the Napa Valley this weekend.

Saturday, September 20th

  • Trefethen Family Vineyards & Fran Drescher will host the “Eat, Drink and Be Merry” event, which is a fundraiser to benefit Cancer Schmancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring all women’s cancers are diagnosed in Stage 1, when it is most curable. You’ll be able to rub-elbows with well-known Chefs, vintners and comedians – including Fran Drescher, Peggy Fleming-Jenkins, Donna Scala and K.R. Rombauer - during an afternoon of food, wine and fundraising.

Among the auction lots that will be available for bidding are:

–A walk on role in the HBO hit show, Entourage
–An afternoon of car racing with John and Loren Trefethen
–A Trefethen retrospective tasting and dinner for four at the French Laundry

The event starts at 11:30am at Trefethen Family Vineyards (1160 Oak Knoll Ave. in Napa) and tickets are $225 per person. Full details are here.

Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st

  • Yountville’s Gallery 1870 will host artist Patrick O’Rourke who will be introducing his newest collection of originals and prints from 1pm - 5pm both days. You can see a preview here.
