No, we’ve not fallen in a ditch never to return. We’ve been busy with work, life and working out a few technical glitches with the old blog. We’re not quite 100% back up and running–still having some issues posting photos, but we are indeed back in business nonetheless.
Here are a few items that have caught our eye over the past several days while we’ve been neglecting you.
Calistoga’s Chanric Inn reviewed
Last week the San Francisco Chronicle published a review of The Chanric Inn, a small lodging option in Calistoga. Since we live here, we obviously don’t stay in such places personally, so here’s how the Chronicle summed it up:
This is exactly what I want from a Napa Valley bed and breakfast – meaning it’s not B&B-ish at all. No ruffles, nothing floral and not a single oversize muffin. The place is outfitted like a top-of-the-line boutique hotel, and owners Channing McBride and Ric Pielstick (hence the inn’s name) have turned out the perfect hybrid: half boutique hotel and half the kind of place your rich gay uncles would live in if you were lucky enough to have rich gay uncles.

25° Brix reviewed
The Chronicle’s Michael Bauer published a review of the newly re-worked 25° Brix in Yountville. Apparently, Bauer didn’t have the best of times, noting:
It’s such a shame. With the lush gardens, expansive interior and wine shop at the front entrance near a round table set with a dozen flower-filled vases, this should be a prime destination. Unfortunately, 25° Brix wouldn’t even make my long list of places to dine in the Napa Valley. The name may be sweet, but the experience simply isn’t.

A new Napa Valley crush blog
The folks over at Folie a Deux have setup a good looking blog for the annual crush this year. The blog is being written by one William Goebel, an intern at the winery who’s providing insights into what it’s like to work at a Napa Valley winery during the busiest time of year. Check it out when you have a moment–so far the posts are fun and informative.
