It’s that time of the week again–time to start daydreaming about the weekend. The 2008 harvest (aka Crush) is nearly upon us and that’s when things really get crazy around here. In the meantime, here are a few activities you might want to check out this weekend.

Saturday, August 9th

  • The folks at Clos Pegase Winery in Calistoga will host their “Mid-Summer Madness Barrel Tasting” event starting at 10:30am. The Bacchanalian festivities start with Jan Shrem, Proprietor, presenting “Bacchus the Rascal”, a fun history of wine seen through 4000 years of art. From there, guests will get to try the winery’s 2007 Hommage Cabernet and Hommage Chardonnay straight from barrel and nibble on cheeses. Cost is $25 per person for non-club members and free for club members. Reservations are recommended and space is limited–call 800-366-8583 for more information.

The folks at Mumm Napa have an excellent fine art photography gallery that’s worth checking out. We recently visited and enjoyed the beautiful shots of “Napa Valley Paradise” by photographer Bruce Fleming. That particular display runs daily through August 17th. Here’s a quick glimpse into what you’ll see:

Finally, if you’re looking for more local events (or would like to submit an event), check out our Napa Valley event calendar. Happy weekend!
