JoLe opens in Calistoga, Yountville’s Brix becomes 25° Brix

In recent days there have been quite a number of new developments in Napa Valley’s restaurant scene. Here’s a quick recap for anyone scoring at home.

JoLe opens in downtown Calistoga
Several weeks back while cruising through downtown Calistoga we noticed a new sign. Within the Mount View Hotel, a new restaurant, JoLe, was nearly set to open. We snapped a few photos and checked out the website, noting the restaurant was scheduled to open sometime this spring. Well, that time has apparently come. Here’s what the San Francisco Chronicle had to say:

Small plates, with a mostly but not exclusively Mediterranean bent. Salads include the local Forni Brown lettuces with tomato and avocado on cumin-scented toast; a wood oven-roasted artichoke with lemon aioli; and potato and lamb tongue salad with remoulade. Baby octopus with fingerling potatoes, chorizo and aioli is among the four seafood choices. For red-meat enthusiasts, the kitchen offers wood oven-roasted quail with pancetta, broccoli rabe and figs; and leg of lamb with three-bean salad, feta and harissa. The wine list acknowledges Napa Valley but also looks beyond – to Oregon, Spain, New Zealand, France and Germany, with a couple of dozen selections by the glass.

Brix continues transformation, now known as 25° Brix
The Yountville restaurant formerly known as Brix has been renamed 25° Brix and recently re-opened with an entirely new focus. Here’s an excerpt from the Napa Register:

Bay Area restaurateur (and Napa resident) David Gingrass is the mastermind behind the new incarnation, which has a focus on farm-to-table dining designed to take full advantage of its 16 prime Napa Valley acres…

Owned by the Kelleher family, 25º Brix’s new name reflects the sugar level at which the grapes for Kelleher Family Vineyard’s cabernet sauvignon is harvested.
