It’s been a long time coming, but we’re happy to formally announce today that Uncork29.com is now live and ready for you to check out.
When we started The Cork Board a little over a year-and-a-half ago, we set out to cover all things Napa Valley–the news, issues, restaurants, hotels, B&B’s and of course, the wine and wineries. The blog, we thought, might be interesting to a few folks as it would provide a glimpse into the places and things we enjoy (as well as those we don’t) about the Napa Valley. As things went along, we quickly realized there were plenty of other people out there who could do the same, so we’ve decided to give them a forum with Uncork29.
So, what exactly is Uncork29 you ask? Well, we hope that someday it can become a valuable resource for everyone from the most casual visitor to the Napa Valley, to the wine/food connoisseur making their 20th trip. We hope it will become the web destination for unbiased, user-generated content specific to the Napa Valley. To that end, the site is designed to allow anyone and everyone to contribute–be it by editing the description of a place, adding photos, writing a review, rating a place, tagging content and much more.
Here’s what you’ll find today:
- An ever-growing collection of 300+ wineries, 150+ restaurants, 115+ lodging options and 80+ other things to do in Napa Valley. Each category is sortable with a single click of the mouse by ‘top rated’, ‘most viewed’, by city, by cuisine for restaurants, etc. You get the idea.
A collection of shared Napa Valley itineraries. We’re really excited about this feature. In a nutshell, anyone is free to build a Napa Valley itinerary of their own (complete with maps and driving directions). You can then choose to make the itinerary public for all to see, or keep it private and share it only with the people you choose. All public itineraries can be viewed by anyone–and better yet, you can copy any existing itinerary and modify it to your liking!
- An events calendar that anyone is free to update with upcoming, Napa Valley events
- The ability to create a profile and add friends (very lightweight social networking)
We’ve got a ton of other ideas and are already working on several new features and enhancements. If you have suggestions, comments, criticisms or just want to say hi, we’d love to hear any and all feedback.
Cheers!
The Uncork29 Team
