Apparently business is ballooning in Napa Valley

Yesterday morning, right after sunrise, we were on our way up to Yountville for your daily injection of caffeine from Bouchon Bakery. While it’s nothing new to us to see hot air balloons dotting the early morning skyline, Sunday morning was quite a bit different.

At one point, we counted no fewer than nine separate hot air balloons floating overhead. Now surely there have been more at some point, but it certainly seemed busy in the sky yesterday. Apparently all this talk of a slowing economy has yet to reach all income levels, as a Sunday brunch hot air balloon ride is hardly cheap (probably about $150 - $200 per person).

While we didn’t quite have our best camera on-hand, we were able to snag one picture showing a nice trio of hot air balloons.

There’s certainly something that feels quite peaceful as you watch the colorful balloons sailing quietly overhead as the sun breaks on the hillside–we’ve been observing this for some 30 years now and it just doesn’t get old.
