2008 growing season begins: bud break in Napa!

In yet another sign that winter is behind us, we found the first shoots of growth on some local vines yesterday. As we drove through the Carneros region of the valley, we pulled in for a quick stop at Folio Winemakers Studio. We weren’t there to try any wine, mind you, we were there to have a look at the vines.

We were a bit surprised to find quite a few buds beginning to peek their heads out–here’s a quick shot:

So there you have it, the 2008 growing season is officially underway in the Napa Valley! And we’re just about one week ahead of where things started last year.

Harvest is well underway down here in NZ. I’ll try to get some photos soon.
