Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on February 21, 2008

Weekend, weekend, here we come! If you’ll be out in our neck of the woods, here are a couple items that may be worth a few minutes of your time.

Saturday, February 23rd

  • Downtown Napa’s Wineries of Napa Valley will host ‘Goosecross Cellars Night’ from 4pm – 6pm at 1285 Napa Town Center. Goosecross is a family-operated boutique winery located on State Lane in Yountville (just off Yountville Crossroad) and in our experience they typically produce some very solid wines. In addition to tasting Goosecross wines, you’ll be treated to various “culinary delights” from the recipes of Colleen Topper, Goosecross’ co-owner. Cost is $10 per person, call 707-253-9450 for more information

Saturday, February 23rd and Sunday, February 24th

  • Inside Oxbow Public Market in downtown NapaAfter the Napa Register showed everyone what a slow news cycle there was last week by splashing headlines on the front page about Taylor’s Automatic Refresher opening at the Oxbow Public Market, you’re now invited to “see, taste, and celebrate” the “Official Grand Opening” of the market on Saturday & Sunday from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

All the merchants will be on-hand at 610 First Street in Napa, as will noted chef Cindy Pawlcyn (Mustards Grill, Go Fish, Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen), who will be signing her newest book “Big Small Plates” on Saturday from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. For a full list of restaurants, wine and other specialty vendors at the market, go here.

Have a great wine country weekend!
