Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

As the week winds down, we get set to say goodbye to the first month of 2008 (can you believe that?!) To usher in the month of February, we’ve got a collection of local wineries that are planning to host parties to celebrate their new releases this weekend…get out there and enjoy!

Saturday, February 2

  • Peju Province Winery will host H.B. Day from 10am – 6pm at 8466 St. Helena Highway in Rutherford. Guests are invited to taste the winery’s flagship wine, the H.B. Reserve, for the first time ever. Winemaker Sara Fowler will be on hand and hors d’oeuvres, music and bottles signed by Herta “H.B” will be available. Cost is $20.00 per person, call 800-446-7358 for more information
  • PlumpJack Winery will celebrate the release of its 2005 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from 10am – 3pm at 620 Oakville Cross Road in Oakville. The tasting is $15, which includes the glass and a sampling of the winery’s 2006 PlumpJack Reserve Chardonnay as well as the newly released 2005 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.   • Also, don’t forget about the other two wine-related activities taking place this weekend in the valley: Silver Oak Cellars’ 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Release Day and Elizabeth Spencer’s Big Red Wine Celebration. If you missed it, we told you about these two events here

Also, don’t forget, the 15th Annual Napa Valley Mustard Festival officially kicks off on Saturday night at 7pm with the “Mustard Magic” grand opening event. Details here.
