Today is one of those days when you wake up and thank your lucky stars you live in California–here in Napa the sun is shining bright and warm and temperatures are supposed to reach the low-to-mid 60′s…not too bad for mid January. We’re certainly no meteorologists, but it sounds like more of the same is expected for the better part of the weekend as well.
With that in mind, we bring you an outdoor-themed edition of Cork Bits, now get out there and enjoy some fresh air!
Saturday, January 19
- The Master Gardeners of Napa County will host a free public workshop, “Rose Pruning: Tools & Techniques,” in Calistoga at the Mt. St. Helena Golf Course–all you need to do is bring your pruners. Attendees will learn how to prune properly for good growth in the future. Workshop runs from 10am – 12pm at the Tucker Bldg. on the Napa Co Fairgrounds at 1435 N. Oak St., Gate 5. Call: 707-253-4221 for more information
Sunday, January 20
- The folks over at COPIA will also do the prune thing this weekend, hosting a session from 10:30am – 12pm on proper winter pruning for fruit trees. The event is called “Prune Those Prunes (and Apples and Pears)” and attendees will be invited to enjoy a glass of hot mulled wine while learning from COPIA’s garden staff about the ‘finer points’ of winter pruning to promote health and vigor. Fruit trees will also be available for purchase. Cost: $20 general admission. Located at 500 First Street in Napa. Call: 888-51.COPIA for more information
