Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

by Karen on November 8, 2007

That’s right, it’s Thursday again…my how time flies. Here are a few events that might be worth checking out this weekend in the Napa Valley:

Friday, November 9

  • Our friends at downtown Napa’s Stave Wine Lounge are hosting a celebration from 5pm – 10pm. What’s the celebration for you ask? It seems that Stave has a new website, a new wine club and some holiday ideas to share. If you drop by, expect to see complimentary “nibbles” and be sure to enter the raffle for a chance at a free wine club shipment or a Thanksgiving-themed wine pack. Located at 1149 First Street in downtown Napa. No charge for admission, call 707-259-5411 for more information

Saturday, November 10

  • The 11th Annual Art and Wine Auction will take place from 5pm – 9pm at the Yountville Community Hall. The featured artist will be Johnny Clay and featured wineries include Honig Winery, Calistoga Cellars, Patz and Hall, and Mumm Napa Valley, among others. For $45/person in advance or $55/person at the door, you’ll get a traditional dinner of cedar planked salmon and organic side dishes and will be able to bid on several local items and wine as part of the silent auction. All proceeds from the event will go towards the development of “Suskol House”, a Native American Cultural Center located in Pope Valley, in the rural, eastern part of Napa County. Located at 6516 Yount Street in Yountville, call 707-256-3561 for more information

Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11

  • Clos Du Val Winery’s ‘Let’s Talk Turkey’ promotionClos Du Val Winery is running a Thanksgiving-themed promotion called “Let’s Talk Turkey” this weekend (see the fun graphic they’ve created to the right). Basically, the winery is offering 10% off selected magnums of Clos Du Val Cabernet Sauvignon this weekend. In order to help you decide which of their Cabs will pair best with your Thanksgiving feast, they’re offering a special magnum tasting on Saturday and Sunday. The magnum tasting will replace the typical “reserve” tasting and will put you back a cool $20, which includes a souvenir logo class. The tasting room is located at 5330 Silverado Trail in Napa, call 707-261-5225 for more information
