Napa Valley resident and aspiring filmmaker Rudy McClain, is seeking to raise funds to underwrite the production of a full-length documentary, titled Merlove. The film, which as the name implies will be all about merlot, will reportedly contain “..substantive interviews with Merlot winemakers both in California and Bordeaux and other locations.”

MerloveMcClain has already been filming both French and Napa Valley winemakers since December 2006, including Chris Phelps of Swanson Vineyards, Tom Rinaldi of Provenance Vineyards, Kirk Venge of Venge Vineyards and Andy Beckstoffer of Beckstoffer Vineyards, among others.

If you’re a merlot fan and are planning to visit the Napa Valley, McClain has put together a short, merlot-specific itinerary for you here. We might also suggest checking out Blackbird Vineyards, which makes some amazing merlot…
