Happy first weekend of August. Here’s a quick rundown of Napa Valley events worth checking out if you’re so inclined. If you happen to drop by any of the following, come back and let us know what you thought!
Saturday, August 4th
- Silver Oak Cellars will be releasing its 2003 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in Oakville. Due to on-going construction of the old cellars, visitors can enjoy the wine under a large tent. A box lunch of cheese, salami, and other treats that best compliment the release wine will be included. Another celebration will also be held at their Geyserville estate. 9am Ã¢â‚¬â€œ 4pm at 915 Oakville Crossroad, Oakville. (800) 273-8809. Cost: $20 per tasting, includes a complimentary Silver Oak wine glass.
- Clos Pegase will host “Mid-Summer Madness Ã¢â‚¬â€œ Barrel Tasting” which includes a Wine and Art Show by founder/proprietor, John Shrem, and barrel and bottle tasting. There will also be delicious finger foods to taste. The art show starts at 10:30am and the barrel tasting opens at noon at 1060 Dunaweal Lane, Calistoga. (707) 942-4981 ext. 209. Cost: Free for Pegase Circle Wine Club Members, $25 for non-members.
- In honor of Joan Rombauer, Rombauer Vineyards is hosting its 2007 Joy of Wine Fundraiser. This benefits the UCSF Rombauer Cancer Research Fund for Pancreas Cancer and Hospice of Napa Valley. This event includes live music, hors dÃ¢â‚¬â„¢oeuvres, a 2006 Chardonnay release, and of course wine tasting! Ethan Becker, co-author of “The Joy of Cooking” will be will be there to sign his book.
