Cork Bits: ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

We’ve got quite a few fun and exciting events happening in the Napa Valley this week, so why not get into that weekend frame of mind now!

Thursday, July 26 – Sunday, July 29

  • The 21st Annual Wine Country Film Festival will kick-off with a cooking demonstration featuring La Toque chef Ken Frank, followed by his short film, “Chef A Passion for Food and Wine” at 7pm in the Frazier Winery Cave. This will be followed by the US premier of “No Reservations” starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart at 8:45 pm, outdoors under the stars! This festival will showcase documentaries and short films. Frazier Winery will be hosting a majority of the events, however, make sure to check the schedule for confirmation on venue, film schedule and cost of admission. Saturday, July 28

  • Carrie Karasyov’s The Infidelity PactSt. Clement Winery will host a wine and book pairing. Guests will be able to enjoy the winery’s new release–a cool and crisp 2006 Bale Lane Sauvignon Blanc, along with a reading by Carrie Karasyov, from her hot, spicy summer novel, The Infidelity Pact. 2pm – 4pm at 2867 St. Helena Highway North, St. Helena. 800-331-8266. Saturday, July 28 – Sunday, July 29

  • The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a fundraiser event to celebrate survivorship of cancer as well as remember those who were lost to this disease. 9am Saturday – 9am Sunday at Napa Valley College. (707) 266-8510. Cost: $50 for team registration.

Sunday, July 29

  • The ray-duhsThe Oakland Raiders 2007 Training Camp is scheduled to kick-off with the first full team workout on Sunday at the Napa Valley Marriott. Stop by and you just might catch a glimpse of number one overall pick JaMarcus Russell, veteran Warren Sapp or your favorite silver and black player in action at 3425 Solano Avenue, Napa.
