Cork Bits: Ideas for your Father’s Day weekend in the Napa Valley

For Grand-dads, Dads, and Dads-to-be, The Cork Board would like to wish you all a very Happy Father’s day weekend. Enjoy the very warm weather, kick your feet up and relax!

Saturday, June 16th

  • A Blind Date Wine Country Style by Flora Springs Winery, which is hosting a very unique blind tasting! Five or six wines will be wrapped in brown paper bags and participants will have to correctly identify the varietal, the vineyard, and year. All participants are eligible to win an assistant cellar of three cases of wine valued at over $1700! There will also be food and wine pairing stations for your enjoyment. Aside from the blind tasting mentioned above, 30+ wineries are pouring and will have a “blind” bottle on their table. Some of the wineries participating in the event include Duckhorn Vineyards, Merryvale Cellars, Trinchero Winery and Ballentine Vineyards. 2 – 5 pm at 1978 West Zinfandel Lane, St. Helena. (707) 963-6045. Cost: $40 per person, Appellations St. Helena members, $25.
  • 5th Annual Walk Through the Vineyards joins the Napa Valley Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and St. Supery Winery in a 3K walk fundraiser. Participants will be able to walk along the river and beautiful vineyards of St. Supery Winery. A light breakfast will be served and jazz music will be sure to entertain. There will also be a silent auction. 8:30am – 12:00pm at 8440 St. Helena Hwy, Rutherford. (800) 942-0809 or (707) 963-4507. Cost: Registration $30.00 until 6/15/07, $40 day of event.

Sunday, June 17th

  • Domaine Chandon is hosting a special Father’s Day BBQ at their beautifully landscaped lawns. Give the master griller a break and enjoy the warm weather! 11:30am – 2:30pm at 1 California Drive, Yountiville. (707) 204-7529. Cost: $20 adults, $10 children under 12.
  • Vintage 1870 Father’s Day Invitational Auto Show is paying tribute to exotic and unique automobiles like Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and Pierce Arrow. More than 100 early and late model automobiles will be exhibited. 11 am – 4pm at 6525 Washington Street, Yountville. (707) 944-2451. Cost: Free.
