Cork Bits: Ideas for your Memorial Day weekend in Napa Valley

Ahhh…everyone here at CB is looking forward to the Memorial Day weekend coming up. The blue skies and warm weather set the perfect stage for a weekend in the spectacular Napa Valley. Here are a few events that will certainly help you unwind!

Saturday, May 26th

  • The Miner Family Winery will be unveiling its 2004 Miner Benedetto Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon during the intermission of a live Jazz concert featuring “The Benedetto Players”. Prior to the show, enjoy a cheese and wine reception inside the winery’s cave. Delicious hand made chocolates will be served during the release to accentuate the flavors of the wine. The event overlooks the beautiful vineyards and has limited seating. 6:30pm at 7850 Silverado Trail, Oakville. (800) 366-9463 ext 25. Cost: $65.
  • Hall Winery will be releasing its 2006 Rose. Enjoy the beautiful day while sitting on a beach blanket (provided by the winery) and listening to the carefree music of a steel drum band. No RSVP required! 10 am – 5:30 pm at 401 St. Helena Hwy, St. Helena. (707) 967-2620. Cost: $10 includes wine tasting and entertainment, free for wine club members.

Saturday, May 26th and Sunday, May 27th

  • Chateau Potelle Winery will be having a Memorial Day Cookout this weekend. Relax under the Napa sun and enjoy BBQ and wine tastings. No RSVP needed! Don’t forget to ask what “VGS” means! 11 am – 5 pm at 3875 Mt. Vedeer Road, Napa. (707) 255-9440. Cost: $20 per person, free for wine club members.
  • Beringer Vineyards will be hosting a special tasting in front of “Our Historic Winery”. Guests will receive a wine glass etched with the winery’s logo and a tasting of four refreshing white wines that are perfect for the summer! Live entertainment will also be provided. 1 – 5 pm at 2000 Main Street, St. Helena. (707) 963-8989 ext. 2130. Cost $15 per person.
