As everyone knows, this past weekend was Mother’s Day, so we didn’t spend a lot of time doing our usual wine-related activities. Instead, we spent a lot of time with family and friends, which is always nice.
We did manage to get out and about a bit, so here are a couple quick items for you:
Last month we told you about a cool little program being run by Hess Collection Winery in Napa. On Saturday we managed to make it back to the winery to get our half-gallon jug refilled, this time with a 2005 blend (93% cabernet sauvignon, 7% petit verdot), which has some surprisingly strong earthy tones to it. We’ll be doing our best to preserve the wine over the next couple weeks using the very high-tech combination of the screw cap and some plastic wrap…
Now, some of you will surely argue that we’re not too observant, but we noticed a new (at least to us anyway) sign that’s popped up over near the Napa airport for Bin to Bottle. The company, who’s website appears to have been up since early 2006 and is “still fermenting”, offers custom crush services for those interested in creating their very own high-quality wines. Stay tuned, we’re hoping to speak to someone from the company to get further details…
