Cork Bits: Ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28

  • Community Nesting Box Construction ProjectCommunity Nesting Box Construction Project will give adults and children ages eight through twelve the opportunity to learn a little more about Napa’s wild bird population. Nesting boxes will not be kept by participants, rather they will be distributed throughout Napa County and will be monitored for usage by the different species of birds. Kids will also participate in a nature hike to identify local birds. The hike will be from the Napa Valley Museum grounds to the Veterans Home Reservoir. Friday, 3 – 5pm and Saturday 9 am – 11am at 55 Presidents Circle, Yountville. (707) 944-0500. Cost: Free.

Saturday, April 28

  • Franciscan is hosting its 2003 Reserve Release Celebration. Food and wine pairings, barrel samples, and live entertainment will be enjoyed by all who attend. 12 – 4pm at Hwy 29 at Galleron Road, Napa. (707) 967-3830. Cost: $40/person, $35 for wine club members.
  • Copia will be hosting a wine blending workshop. From start to finish, on-site professionals will help you blend varietals of wine to create something truly unique. After blending, your wine will be bottled, corked and labeled too! 2:45pm – 4:00pm at 500 First Street, Napa. (707) 259-1600. Cost: $50 general/$40 members/$10 extra person.
