The Napa Valley has certainly seen its fair share of Hollywood-types over the years. First there was Falcon Crest, the primetime soap opera about wealthy, feuding wine families, which did location filming in the valley. Then the Staglin Family decided to rent out its property to Disney for the filming of The Parent Trap.
Now, word has it a new movie, “The Judgement of Paris”, will begin filming in the Napa Valley this coming fall. “The Judgement of Paris” will document the now-famous 1976 blind tasting in Paris, which proved, once-and-for-all, that California wine was as good, if not better, than the mighty French. The movie will reportedly be an adaption of George Taber’s book–and it has been widely reported that Napa’s Mike Grgich, the winemaker who created the 1973 Chardonnay for Chateau Montelena that blew away its French competitors, is extremely happy about the prospects of this movie.
Wine blogs are abuzz with rumors on the cast–we’ve seen everything from Tom Hanks, to Hugh Grant, to Jude Law and Keanu Reeves. Whatever the final decision, it’s certainly going to make for an interesting autumn here in our neck of the woods if all this actually does happen…
