Cork Bits: Ideas for your Napa Valley weekend

Happy April Fool’s weekend! We have a great lineup of events for you this weekend…no joke!!

Saturday, March 31:

  • Churchill Manor in NapaNapa Valley Spring Dinner Cooking Class is a hands-on class and allows students to cook with Julie Logue-Riordan, who was classically trained by accomplished French Masters. Students will create a homey Cannellini Bean Soup, Pan Sautéed Chicken with Mushroom Risotto with Wild Mushrooms, Steamed Broccolini and Broccoli with Parmesan Cheese and Pear Cake with Grappa Sauce. The class is from 4pm – 8pm and are held at Churchill Manor in Napa. (707) 227-5036. Cost: $125.
  • The Carneros Run, includes 5k and 10k coures, both of which start downhill and wind through the vineyards along country roads and forested hills. Walkers are definitely welcome to the event. You get: the best vineyard run in America, a Chardonnay tasting, commemorative wine glass and an artful t-shirt. If spending the morning strolling through prime Napa Valley vineyards isn’t motivation enough, first place in each adult age group (21+ yrs of age) wil receive a medal and a bottle of premium local wine. Sunday, April 1:

  • Ballentine Vineyards will be pouring its latest release, a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (the winery’s first ever Cab) at its tasting room. Open 10am – 5pm daily by appointment at 2820 St. Helena Hwy N. at St. Helena. (707) 963-7919.
