Earlier this week, one of our readers brought to our attention a troubling story from the San Francisco Chronicle.
If you’ve ever driven up Highway 29 in the Napa Valley, winding past Yountville headed north, you’ve undoubtedly slowed down around Oakville Cross Road to allow others to pull off for a stop at Oakville Grocery. The small store, which offers valley visitors a wide selection of gourmet food, has been a Napa Valley icon for more than 120 years.
According to the Chronicle, Oakville Grocery, which over the years has expanded beyond its Napa Valley roots, is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy. It’s hard to imagine a business that seems (from the outside anyway) to be so popular, could be in such a position.
We’ve reached out to the company for more details, but have yet to hear back. If you have information about the situation, let us know. We’re certainly hoping things work out for them…
