apparently this is the place to go if you have a toddler. there were SO many children. i seriously felt like i was at disneyland. they were screaming everywhere. the gondula line was long both ways. and its such a gimmick. the wine was mediocre, small pours with no info. our taster when we got up to the top of the "self-guided tour" (which is ridiculous), wreaked of cigarettes. NICE.

Let me start off by saying that I am not a wine connoisseur by any means but with family in town it was necessary to visit some wineries. Sterling Vineyards was recommended to my family by their hotel and with a coupon in hand for the gondola ride/tasting, we set off. The grounds of Sterling are beautiful. The gondola ride is a short 3 minute-long venture but has some pretty amazing views. The self-guided tour allows you to go at your own pace, learn a thing or two about the wine-making process, and enjoy some of Sterling's liquid creations. The Sterling staff member Jim that helped us out on the tasting deck picked up on the fact that I was not a wine drinker right away. He convinced me to hold out until the last wine, a 2005 Malvasia Bianca, which he said tasted like, "picking a grape out of the refrigerator and eating it." I have to say, Jim knows his stuff. This wine was smooth and sweet, perfect for a dessert wine or with spicy Asian cuisine. It was a wine for the non-wine drinker, and I liked it!
