Solage Calistoga (solagecalistoga.com) is a new modern/green resort located just off Silverado Trail in Calistoga.
As you arrive to Solage the curb appeal might turn you off a little. Don't worry, once you get inside it will all be fine. The landscaping is designed to be sustainable, so there are a lot of earth tones on the grounds. The reception desk is welcoming and really lets you get a feel for the property. Next is two bocci courts, a Vegas style pool (see "Papi" for a good time at the pool bar) and Solbar (the onsite restaurant). Indoor meets outdoor throughout Solage, but Solbar uses large sliding windows that can make you feel like you are outside. Dine under the stars on the large patio next to a water feature that spits fire (Make reservations for Friday and Saturday nights as Solbar is gaining a lot of local business) or inside for a equally beautiful experience (ask for Jenn M. for amazing service). Chef Brandon Sharp (of Gary Danko and French Laundry) and his Sous Chefs Ryder Zetts and Gustavo Rios prepare amazing cuisine at a moderate price. The left side of the menu focuses on healthier spa selections while the right side has all the good stuff. The wine selection at Solbar is good and features local vintner members of Club Solage. Next, you will probably head to the spa. You will see a state of the art yoga studio and gym followed by the spa reception. As you move to the treatment rooms (most of the spa and resort have a lot of outdoor common spaces) you can take advantage of the geothermically heated spa pools. Treatments consist of classics and new takes on Calistoga staples (skip the mudslide, trust me). The guest rooms at Solage are modern and have some great amenities (two complimentary cruiser bikes, pebble floor showers) but watch out for the concrete floors, they can be cold in the early morning.
Overall Solage is a great young property that will only get better with time. The staff is friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay a little better.
Easy on the soul, stomach, pet and environment

Right off of Silverado Trail near Calistoga lies Solage, an eco-friendly resort where each studio comes with two bicycles to use freely (all the staff at Solage use bikes as well). The landscaping uses lots of fragrant plants, so as you walk to the restaurant, you may be caught in a dreamy note of lavender. The studios are large and comfortable, with high-quality linens, fluffy down duvets and pillows, stone showers, and Calistoga Roastery coffee ready for brewing. There is an adult and kids pool, an incredible fitness center complete with daily yoga, aerobics and pilates classes. And Solbar, the resident restaurant, finely balances a hip and down-tempo vibe without getting stuffy.
Everyone here seems to have a glass of wine in their hand and a relaxed expression on their face. Just the way I like it.
