Chef Michael Chiarello, Emmy-winning host of Food Network’s Easy Entertaining, tastemaker behind NapaStyle and Chiarello Family Vineyards, and founding chef of Tra Vigne restaurant, will open Bottega in late 2008. Bottega will serve rustic farm-to-table cuisine that reflects the bounty of fresh produce in the Napa Valley and the bold flavors of Italian cuisine. The restaurant will be comprised of three intimate seating areas with an open kitchen and an exposed wood-burning oven, a classic copper bar and an outdoor lounge. The two indoor dining rooms will seat 118, including a private dining/wine room and bar, and the outside covered Terrazzo with two wood-burning fireplaces will seat 66 at both lounge and table seating. After a day of wine tasting around the valley, we decided to have dinner at Michael Chiarello's new (and much talked about)restaurant, Bottega. While we had a 7pm reservation, we weren't actually seated until 7:30pm since guests seated at our table who had earlier reservations were staying a little longer than expected. That didn't matter to us though. It was a testament to the casual and laid back ambiance of the restaurant. The whole meal (I had the gnocchi) was DELICIOUS!! Since there was a group of us, we ordered the Chocolate-Almond Molten Cake, Torta di Riso and the 3 cheeses to share. It was WONDERFUL!!

Bottega, being a new restaurant still has a few details to iron out. For instance, when we inquired about the cheeses, the server didn't know what cheeses were being served and didn't offer to find out. It wasn't that the server was rude or inattentive, but was more lacking in experience.

Overall, I think the restaurant is still pretty good and will definitely go back for another visit.
